Pet Gift Box Review - September 2015

This is a review of a subscription box for dogs called Pet Gift Box. It costs $28.99 a month if you subscribe month to month. For a three month subscription the cost drops to $23.99 and for a six month subscription it drops to $20.99. For a subscription for a year it's at it's lowest price of $18.99. I purchased this through a Groupon deal for only $7.49. It was $9.99 plus I had a coupon. This box comes in three sizes: petite, mid-sized and hefty. I ordered the petite. They also offer boxes for cats. Included in this box were the following products:
  1. Ultra Chewy Passion Fruit Tropical Mini Bones
  2. Cool Treats Piña Colada Smoothie
  3. Hula Girl Dog Toy
  4. Coco Therapy Five Star Gingered Pumpkin Dog Treats
  5. Hawaiian Bandana
When I received it in late September, I was a shocked it had a Hawaiian theme since summer is over and fall is here. I really expected something in a fall theme. Our dogs love the toy which has a squeaker. I don't like the ingredients in the mini bones, so I'll be donating that. The Coconut Gingered Pumpkin treats were enjoyed by Leo and Harvey (Maltese & Shih-Tzu), but rejected by Teddy & Isabella (Maltese & Shih-Tzu). They are really tiny and shaped like stars, so they were hard to hand out. My dogs prefer my homemade dog cookies. We received the Cool Treats before in a different subscription and none of our dogs like it, so that will also be donated along with the bandana since our dogs wear bows not bandanas. Two out of the five items were enjoyed, so I cancelled our subscription. Our four dogs really prefer BarkBox & Doggyloot.

I recently received an email from Pet Gift Box offering another box at a discount and when I clicked on the email it automatically resubscribed me! I'm very upset that it did that, since all I wanted to do was look at their pricing information to share in this blog post. I emailed them and told them about this issue and they just said that I successfully cancelled, but didn't give me a refund. They immediately charged my credit card when I clicked on that link. Never in all my years of being a consumer have I ever had a company do that without first confirming. This is ridiculous! So now I'm forced into receiving another box which I don't want. I also asked them to remove my credit card information from their website and they ignored that request. It took them several days to reply the first time I tried to cancel. Their website wasn't allowing me to do it myself. This time it did, but I still have been charged for it. In addition, they only provide customer service via email and do not provide a phone number. I usually try to help new companies, but I can't recommend this one due to these issues.

The dog subscriptions I recommend, have been using for years and have reviewed on this blog are the following:

BarkBox - reviews & $10 off discount link
Doggyloot - reviews & $5 off discount link
