This is a review of the 30th box of food and recipes we have received from Home Chef. Each week they offer twelve recipes and a fruit basket to chose from. One is a smoothie, one is breakfast and usually three of them are vegetarian. Some are low calorie, low carb and some are gluten free. Each dinner entree is $9.95, smoothies are $4.95 and the fruit is $4.95. This week we gave three recipes five out of five stars and one recipe three out of five stars.

Chicken Pad Thai with Carrots, Roasted Peanuts & Cilantro

Both Hubby & I gave this recipe five out of five stars. Pad Thai is one of Hubby's favorite dishes. I'm not a big fan, but I loved this one. I think I liked this one because it wasn't just spicy, it had a bit of sweetness. They are always generous with noodles, so we used less than they gave us and it was still a very generous portion. The chicken was very tender and the sauce was perfect. The sauce was made with fish sauce, sweet chili sauce and chili oil. This recipe took about thirty-five minutes to prepare and it had 752 calories.

Raspberry Chia Smoothie with Apple, Yogurt & Honey

Hubby gave this smoothie five out of five stars and I gave it three. Hubby loves raspberries and I'm not as crazy about them. I've had much more delicious smoothies from Home Chef. This was just ordinary for me though it was still enjoyable. This recipe took about five minutes to prepare and it had 312 calories.

Lemon Poppy Seed Pork Tenderloin with Apple Brussels Sprout & Cider Gastrique

I gave this recipe four out of five stars and Hubby gave it three. The pork was about five stars for me and the side dish three, so I gave it four stars. The pork was tender and who knew poppy seeds and mustard go well together on pork! The side dish needs improvement, but if you keep in mind it is a low calorie dish, then I guess it gets a pass. Look how huge the brussels spouts are in the photo above! I've never seen ones that large. I think they may have needed more cooking time. On the rare occasion I use brown sugar in a dish with apples, I usually slow cook them in a slow cooker. I think it would have been a great improvement, but Home Chef likes to keep cooking times down. It took about thirty-five minutes to prepare and it had 567 calories.

BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad with Housemade Tortilla Strips & Creamy Ranch Dressing

Yummy! I'm not a fan of BBQ sauce, so I'm shocked I enjoyed this recipe so much that I gave it five out of five stars! I was going to leave out the BBQ sauce on my plate until I tasted it, it had a nice chipotle flavor. I purchased it for Hubby who loves BBQ sauce and he also gave it five stars. The chicken was so tender and the vegetables so crisp. It was perfection. This recipe took about forty minutes to prepare and it had 974 calories. Mind you, it was an extremely generous portion and we had leftovers for lunch the next day, so it was actually less calories than that. All the food wouldn't fit on the plates, so the photo above shows less than half of the finished product.

It was a very enjoyable week of food! Friday we are expecting the following:
  1. Healthy Takeout Bourbon Chicken
  2. Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos
  3. Mint Chocolate Smoothies
  4. Winter Rub Pork Tenderloin
