This is a review of our 44th delivery from a food subscription service called Home Chef. This week I ordered two recipes we have had before and one new one. We gave one recipe five out of five stars, one recipe four stars and one recipe three stars. The calories ranged from only 408 to 620 and preparation time was thirty-five minutes for all three recipes. The recipe cards indicated preparation time from twenty-five to forty minutes.

Mojito Pork Chops with Citrus Salad

We both gave this recipe five out of five stars. The salad dressing made of honey, mint, mandarin orange juice, lime juice, lime zest, olive oil, salt and pepper was so scrumptious. It was also used on the pork chop with a bit more mint. The mojito seasoning on the pork chop was so very tasty! We would have liked more salad, but it was a healthy and filling portion. It had only 408 calories which is really shocking since it had so much flavor. It took Hubby thirty-five minutes to prepare.

Tex Mex Turkey Taco Salad with Corn, Avocado, Onion & Sour Cream

We have ordered this recipe three times, that's how good it is! In this case three times was not a charm. They gave us frozen corn instead of fresh and the cilantro, avocado and romaine lettuce weren't in the best shape, so it wasn't as good. This time we gave it three out of five stars instead of the normal five stars. We skipped pickling the onion since I can't stomach anything pickled. This recipe has 620 calories, down from the previous versions that had 802 and 750 calories. Slight ingredient variations such as no salad dressing or less sour cream changes the calorie count. We definitely noticed that this one had much less corn and we didn't care for the low fat salad dressing. It was disappointing and from now I'm going to compare the ingredients when they repeat a recipe since they aren't the same. This one took thirty-five minutes to prepare which is what the recipe indicated. It was a large and filling portion.

Rosemary Cider Chicken with Roasted Apples & Butternut Squash

This is the second time we have ordered this recipe and my reaction after tasting it is "it tastes like Thanksgiving". This instantly makes me think of Thanksgiving, the sauce is perfection, heavenly! Look at the sauce above, it's lick the plate good! Hubby did an awesome job! We gave this recipe five out of five stars last time, but we have to go lower this time since the chicken was smaller and of less quality. It took thirty-five minutes to prepare and the recipe said it would take thirty to forty minutes. It was a healthy portion, but not quite as filling as we would have liked. It has 520 calories which is really shocking since it has so much flavor. It certainly doesn't taste like a low calorie meal.

It was a mixed bag of recipes this week since we weren't happy with some of the ingredients, but we still enjoyed them. I also enjoyed that these recipes didn't take long to make. The competition has been taking longer than thirty-five minutes lately. I wish they would come up with more Thanksgiving flavored recipes like the Rosemary Cider Chicken! If you haven't tried Home Chef yet, I highly recommend you give it a try as you can tell since this is our 44th delivery! 1. I tried Home Chef once and liked what I received. Took a while to make the recipes but the dishes were delicious.
