This is a review of a restaurant called Outwest Steakhouse located in Kernersville, North Carolina. They are open Monday-Thursday from 4:30 pm to 9 pm. On Saturday they are open one hour later and they open for lunch at 11:30 on Sunday. Hubby and I visited around 5 pm last Saturday. Since they only offer reservations for parties of eight or more, we had to wait thirty minutes for a table. The receptionist gave us an estimate of thirty to forty minutes. I really wish they offered reservations because I'm not a fan of waiting. They have a small bar area where you can get a drink and wait, but we had to wait for a seat there also. There isn't any seating in the foyer, but there are benches outside for waiting. When two bar stools opened up in the bar area I ordered a margarita and Hubby had a Diet Coke. The margarita was pretty good, but the presentation was lacking. It's just poured into a regular glass. It costs $5.75 and the Diet Coke costs $2.25. They have a wine and beer menu only. They don't have a cocktails menu. You have to settle your bar tab prior to going to your table for dinner. It would be nice if they added it to the dinner bill, so we didn't have to listen to the beeper while waiting to pay our drink bill.

Our beeper went off and we were escorted to our booth. They have some booths, but mostly tables. The friendly waitress promptly asked if we needed more drinks and then returned about five minutes later with some four dinner rolls and butter. The rolls were tasty especially since we were so hungry, but they aren't crave worthy. We were offered another basket of rolls after we were finished. Shortly after the rolls arrived we ordered. I ordered the prime rib and Hubby ordered the ribeye steak. Thirteen minutes after the rolls arrived our house salads were brought to the table. The salads were tasty and fresh. Fifteen minutes later our steaks were brought out. We were both disappointed that the steaks weren't served hot. They were both warm which turned to cool before finishing. We both thought the steaks were delicious and they were cooked rare as we requested. If they were served hot they would definitely be crave worthy! The baked potato was tasty, but I didn't like the fact that cheese, bacon and chives were an extra charge. It came with only butter and sour cream and they didn't salt the outside nor serve it in foil to keep it warm. I'm use to steakhouses that offer the baked potato loaded for no extra charge. Hubby said most of the asparagus was tasty though one piece was a bit tough. The prime rib came with au jus and horseradish sauce. I'm not a fan of either. I recommend tasting it prior to pouring it over you steak which I unfortunately didn't do.

It's extremely busy on Saturday night, so it was very noisy especially since they had about three large birthday party groups that night. It was so loud, I couldn't tell if they were playing any music. While we were eating, a waiter dropped his plates and glasses behind me and glass went everywhere. About fifteen minutes later, it happened again a few tables over when they were clearing the table. I think they would run more smoothly if they hired someone just to bring the steaks to the table and someone to bus the tables. The wait staff was moving around too quickly to safely transport breakables. They have a separate room for very large groups. We plan to give them another try perhaps on a Sunday for lunch. Sunday is the only day they serve lunch. If the food doesn't come out hot the second time then we won't return, so fingers crossed! What's your favorite steakhouse restaurant in the area?
