This is a review of the 20th delivery we have received from a weekly food subscription box called Plated. This week we gave one recipe four out of five stars, one recipe three stars and one recipe two stars. Calories ranged from 670 to 850 and preparation time ranged from thirty-five to forty-five .

Chicken Caesar Gyros with Shaved Parmesan

We gave this recipe three out of five stars. It was kind of like having a salad on a gyro. I think it would have tasted better as a side salad. They gave us such a small amount of anchovy paste that the dressing just wasn't very tasty. It needed some black pepper and more garlic. The chicken was tasty and moist. This meal made me crave a traditional gyro with sliced lamb and tzatziki sauce. It has 730 calories and it took about thirty-five minutes to prepare. It was a healthy portion of food.

Mediterranean Burgers with Harissa Aioli & Carrot Fries

Notice how small the burger is in comparison to the bun shown above. We gave this recipe two out of five stars since the burger was too small and the sauce wasn't tasty. The carrots were too spicy and the spice didn't compliment the carrots though they were tender. The flavor from spice mix in the burgers was absent. The Harissa we were sent was beige yet in the photo it appears orange. It was such a disappointing recipe which was shocking because we've never had a burger recipe we didn't enjoy before. It's pretty difficult to mess up a burger recipe! This recipe has 850 calories and it takes forty-five minutes to prepare. It was a small portion of food.

Moo Shu Chicken with Pancakes

We gave this recipe four out of five stars. We find that any recipe with hoisin sauce is delicious. It was a wonderful combination of flavors. They sent us three types of mushrooms: cemini, oyster, shiitake. They were delicious! I don't know why they call the wraps pancakes, because they taste just like any ordinary wrap and in no way taste like pancakes. While the recipe was scrumptious, it was a small portion of food and we were hungry again only a few hours later. Their picture on the recipe card shows the wraps overfilled. As you can see above, I had to open one up to show it's contents. This recipe has 670 calories and it takes about thirty-five minutes to prepare.

It was a disappointing week of recipes. We use to really enjoy Plated since most of the recipes were four and five stars, but lately they have been scoring lower. They also have been sending smaller portions and have had some ingredient issues which weren't the case prior. In addition, they stopped sending the produce in green bags which keep the produce fresh longer and can be reused several times. Due to these issues and since they are one of the most expensive coming in at $72 a box, I'm going to take another break from ordering. If you are a subscriber, how have your meals been lately?
