Play! by Sephora Subscription Box Review - February 2017

The Soft Side - Stellar Products Are Only the Beginning

This is the review of a monthly subscription box from Sephora called Play! by Sephora. It only costs $10 per month including shipping and it includes five cosmetic samples, one perfume sample and a cosmetic bag. They were sending everyone the same products each month, but now they have a couple of variations. If you ordered this month's, it may not include all of these products. This month the retail value of my box is $33.77. Included in my February box were the following samples:
  1. Clinique - Pep-Start HydroBlur Moisturizer, made in the USA, .24 fl. oz., retail value $4.16
  2. Sephora - Lashcraft Length & Volume Mascara, made in Italy, .094 fl. oz., $3.41 value
  3. Too Faced - Lip injection Glossy in the color Milkshake, made in Canada, .03 oz., $4.71 value
  4. Origins - GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream, made in the USA, .17 oz., $10.20 value
  5. Nars - Velvet Lip Glide in the color Bound, made in the USA, .07 oz., $9.01 value
  6. Marc Jacobs - Divine Decadence eau de parfume spray, made in France, .04 fl. oz., $2.28 value
I'm so happy they sent two lip products since I love lip products! If I could only buy one type of cosmetics it would be lipstick or lip gloss! That's something I don't leave home without applying. I tried the Too Faced plumping lip gloss first. It's a lovely light beige color with fine gold glitter. I prefer more of a gold beige, but it's a nice nude gloss. It would have been great if they had sent us the latest trend, metallic lipstick! One of my favorite beige-gold lipsticks from many years ago had a bit of metallic shine to it. Then I tried the Nars Velvet Lip Glide which is suppose to be semi-matte. The lower lip reflects the gloss more than the upper lip. I wish it had been a matte since that's what in style right now. It has a lovely creamy texture. It's a bit less liquidy than a liquid lipstick usually is which makes it easier to apply. It's suppose to stay all day, but I'm skeptical.  Before I finished this post, I checked my lips and it now has a matte look and it looks like it needs a retouch. I applied some more, so it's not long lasting. I've only had good luck with matte lipstick being long lasting. The one I tried recently that amazed me is Cover Girl Outlast. Check out my review before you go. That one still looked like it had just been applied even after my dentist appointment! You can make that one  glossy or matte. The Origins Eye Cream is a really small sample. I'm a bit nervous about trying it since recently an eye cream irritated my eye enough for it to be a bit red for several weeks. Unfortunately, I don't remember which one I used since I'm always trying samples. I'm going to start putting aside the skin care products I use in case that happens again. Normally I just put it away in a drawer, so I have no idea which one caused the irritation. I enjoy receiving mascara samples, so I look forward to trying Sephora's latest mascara next time I apply my makeup. Clinique usually has pretty good moisturizers, so I'll be trying that one after my shower tonight. I don't care for the Marc Jacobs perfume. It's described as: champagne extract, orange blossom, creamy bergamot, gardenia, hydrangea, honeysuckle, saffron, vanilla, liquid amber.

While the retail value of this box is lower than previous ones it's a good box for me and I'm happy with it.  If you received a Sephora box this month, are you happy with your samples? What's your favorite subscription box? Check out my Play! by Sephora Pinterest Board to see what I have received in my previous boxes. Also, check out my Subscription Box Pinterest Board to see what other boxes I've subscribed to over the years. Help me out by sharing this blog post with friends by clicking on the Google red box (G+1) at the very top of this page or via Twitter and Facebook by clicking their boxes here:
